How I Came to This Work
My introduction to Kambo began with an experience that taught me - directly - how powerful and potentially destabilizing this medicine can be when it is not approached with sufficient preparation, discernment, and care.
The way it was offered to me at the time lacked the depth and restraint I now consider essential. The setting and guidance did not adequately account for the effects Kambo can have on the body, mind, and nervous system.
During those early sessions, I fainted multiple times. Although the person serving had some training, it became clear to me that Kambo requires more than basic instruction or confidence. It requires humility, physiological literacy, careful screening, and a serious responsibility toward the person receiving it.
That experience became a turning point. It led me to seek a deeper and more rigorous foundation, which I later found through my training with Jason Fellows. There, I encountered an approach rooted in safety, integration, and respect—both for the medicine and for the individual.
Rather than discouraging me, my early experience clarified what responsible practice must include: conservative application, informed consent, clear boundaries, and ongoing integration. These principles continue to shape how I work today.
